ABOUT CROSSFIT ULYSSES

Born out of a passion for CrossFit Since 2010 CrossFit Ulysses looks to bring all the benefits of CrossFit to the Middlesbrough area

 Community is at the heart of CrossFit Ulysses. Our goal is to offer a welcoming and supportive environment. An environment where you want to spend time, work out and build towards your goals. We understand that the goals will vary from one individual to another, but whatever they are CrossFit Ulysses is the place to achieve them. state of the art CrossFit gym, 5400sq feet, vast amount of the highest quality fitness equipment including assault bikes, rowers, weightlifting equipment and area, gymnastics rings, sled track, strongman equipment and a kids creche.

What can you Expect from CrossFit Ulysses

  • Our coaches get to know you personally, what your strengths and weaknesses are, what your goals are and always support you. 
  • Every single workout is ‘scalable’ which means the newest beginner can be training alongside some of the athlete-level members and completing the same workout. 
  • No workout is ever the same and we always maintain very small class sizes to enable our coaches to focus on every single member. Expect coaching ratios of 1-8
  • We are family-focussed and kids are a big part of Ulysses. We have a crèche and kids classes aimed at providing fun and interactive sessions.
  • We want Ulysses to be as accessible as possible so we do not have any contracts, our membership is completely flexible. 
  • We have a busy calendar of social and charity events and offer even more support and friendship to our members through our private Facebook group.

 

I find it a great honour being able to help normal people do things they’ve not been able to do for years, improved posture is a big thing and a gift I’m passing on. Creating a family atmosphere with no ego’s whilst pushing peoples limits in a safe and friendly way.

Josh is our second in command. He brings years of experience as a Personal trainer and fitness manager combining it with both powerlifting and bodybuilding experience. Confident and enthusiastic he has fallen in love with CrossFit over the last year and as we all do loves helping people achieve great things on a daily basis.

Coach Ingrid is also a registered dietician, she is the main driving force behind our nutritional support for the members. She has a background in aerobic base training from years of harriers running club experience.

I started my fitness journey in the British army in 2003 where I was trained on a revolutionary course that instead of the usual beasting, we were educated in strength, flexibility , core, group management plus aerobic and anaerobic training systems. Since leaving I've trained athletes, football & rugby teams and individuals all over the world. 4 years after starting CrossFit I settled in Middlesbrough to bring my passion for human movement and flexibility to the area. We teach technique, consistency then intensity. We are now getting to help people on a deeper level with nutrition and 90 day transformations.

MIck is one of our weightlifting coaches. He brings his passion for lifting heavy things and loves to develop skills of beginners.

Mark is one of our weightlifting coaches. He brings his passion for form, speed and flexibility with years of experience in strength training. He loves to develop beginners and see them improve.

Chris's background stems from a varied background of running and aerobic/anerobic classes including boxing. Chris is a level 1 certified CrossFit trainer and is looking to add weightlifting next to his skills. Chris enjoys helping beginners progress and is keen adhering to fundamental movement standards

Paul is our newest recruit.
